Specht Böhm at XIXth International Congress of Comparative Law in Vienna 20 – 27 July 2014
Specht Böhm is once again taking in active role in the International Congress of Comparative Law in Vienna from 20 July until 27 July 2014. Over 400 Congress participants are expected at the event which will cover a wide range of topics including legal history and ethnology, legal theory, comparative law and unification law, legal education, civil law, private and public international law, civil procedure, environmental law, commercial law, constitutional law, human rights and administrative law. On Tuesday 22 July 2014 and Wednesday 23 July 2014, Specht Böhm will offer three special sessions entitled “Jurisprudence of Finance”, “Emerging Forms of Finance” and “Finance Viewed from the Standpoint of Different Legal Traditions: The Example of Islamic Finance.”
The Congress, which takes place under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer, and in cooperation with the University of Vienna, the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law and the Pan European University of Bratislava, will be held at the University of Vienna and the Vienna City Hall (Rathaus). During the Congress, the government of Canada will award its Grand Prize, the Canada Prize of Comparative Law. The prize awards ten thousand Canadian dollars once every four years to the author of an outstanding legal work that addresses the common law and civil law systems in a critical comparative study in private or public law.
